EE 435/535: Microwave Circuit Design I, Fall 2026

Combined Course, CEM-SEECS, University of North Dakota, 2026

Review of transmission lines and plane waves, analysis of microwave networks and components using scattering matrices, analysis of periodic structures, transmission and cavity type filters, high frequency effects, microwave oscillators, amplifiers, and microwave measurement techniques.

The course is composed of lecture, homework, course projects, and course exams. It will integrate theory, design, and simulation validation to have full understanding of RF/microwave & high frequency circuit design.

After completing this course, the students should be able to:

  • understand the transmission line and wave propagation theory
  • analyze the high frequency circuits using microwave network analysis including S-parameter, ABCD-matrix, smith chart and impedance matching etc.
  • design the RF/microwave circuit & components using transmission lines.
